Exploration 11
I decided to research Aung San Suu Kyi first because the fact that she is woman opposing something in another country intrigues me. It is known that in many countries women do not have a say in anything. I found a site that spelled out her whole life. She has suffered many hurts, like not seeing her husband for four years before he died because he was denied access to see her. She chose to peacefully campaign for her country, while putting her family life last. Recently she met with Barack Obama, as she is friendly with many different leaders of other countries.

"Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them."-Dalai Lama
The Dalai Lama is the spiritual and temporal leader of Tibet. He is chosen because he is said to be the reincarnation of the predecessor Dalai Lama. The people believe that the Dalai Lama is manifestations of the Bodhisattva
of Compassion and that the Dalai Lama chooses to reincarnate to serve the people with his wisdom. The 14th Dalai Lama has had many issues with China powers trying to take over Tibet and he was in exile. He talks to the other leaders to keep peace within Tibet.
The Dalai Lama makes more sense in a couple sentences
I agree completely. I've met few people who spoke wisdom. We are so hung up on being successful that we will push everyone out of our lives to do so. There is no peace in that. Also, I love this quote.
ReplyDeleteKyi was a very strong women though, and not being able to see her husband before his death probably only motivated her more for her cause
ReplyDeleteThe Dalai Lama makes for some good quotes. I think he is totally right about people not taking time to enjoy the present. Even when we achieve our goals we don't take time to enjoy it. We just set new goals and strive higher.
ReplyDeleteKyi was such a strong women with goals in mind.
