“American’s fear only one thing: inconvenience”
This is a quote from the
documentary Fresh. I think this
documentary, along with others like it, should have to be shown and elementary,
middle and high schools all over America.
The film was so eye opening, to say the least. I think the most important thing that came
from the movie, is that the small time farmers swore that it is was the better
way to produce more food. They said even though you were technically producing
less food, the big corporations had so much disease and death, that they lost a
good portion of their product. So I kept
asking myself, so why is not everyone farming the not only more earth friendly
way, but also the way with a better outcome.
I really want to know more about the other side. Why are they so stuck on making MORE food
FASTER. Do they not care at all, about
their product or what they are doing to their customers? I
think this is something the government should do something about. We need to stop glorifying the big farms that
are slowly killing us and focus on the smaller farms that not only care about
us, but also the animals.
I agree with you, instead of being worried about mass producing and turning a profit we need to be more concerned about our health and the health of the animals that they deem worthy to eat. America mass produces so much food that is very unhealthy for us, and in turn we are becoming what we eat.
ReplyDeleteThat quote was the same one I used, i thought it was good at summing up the general method.
ReplyDeleteI agree, educate them when they are younger so we have a longer period of time to influence ourselves to buy the right groceries. If we are raised to eat right and healthy, the habit will stick.
ReplyDeleteI believe the only reason these big "farms" are popular and the way to go is because it works like a factory. As quickly as you kill one animal, you get a new one to replace it. Plus the emotional attachment is not there. These animals will not get names like they do on a small family-owned farm.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with you to the fullest that this film needs to be seen by a younger audience. Elementary school might be pushing it, but middle school and high school definitely.
