Exploration 8

The documentary Inside Jobs was directed by Charles Ferguson. This documentary reveals the inside corruption that went on with the banks. It clears out all the tricks that bankers , who are morally corrupted, played with the ordinary people which lead to the recession of 2008. I personally learned alot about this crash. It was amazing to watch how not only US but other countries' economy fell down drastically just by the bankers' greedy acts. They lied, decieved and took advantage of the ordinary people, they commited a crime and nothing was really done about it. It was astonishing to see that they were not punished or kickout of their jobs for the crime they commited. These bankers were still making ten times more money when half of the US population was devastated due to lack of jobs and money.
It is sad that the government rely on the professional lawyers, who are trained to lie, that are hired by these rich bankers to tell the truth and make the decisions. It is almost like governement has no power over them, that they are the most powerful. One of the quotes in the movie said " Financial engineers build dreams that turned out to be nightmare adn other people had to pay for it" and I think this is because those dreams were for themselves and not for the people, not for the country. These wall street people are working for their own good not for the good of the country and this leads not only to a suffering america but a suffering world.

  1. Yes, it does seem that these people are more powerful than the government because the government knows of this problem but has not done anything to stop it. Good point.

  2. I learned a lot about the crash as well. It was an eye opener, for sure! It amazes me how long they got away with it and the amount of money they were making.. INSANE.

  3. "They lied, decieved and took advantage of the ordinary people, they commited a crime and nothing was really done about it." exactly! and if it wasnt for this movie alot of people wouldnt know exactly what was even going on. They did whatever what they wanted to, and didn't even think about how it would effect the rest of the United States as a whole.

  4. It was interesting that the boards of directors did nothing to stop the CEOs of these companies, but the directors were making large incomes with the same practices the CEOs were using. The whole system had to be corrupt for them to be able to make all the money.

  5. Someone in the documentary (I forgot who) that our government is a Wall Street government. Is it like the government doesn't have power, or does the government really lack power?
