Exploration 11

Devon Lyle Hardwick

Today and for decades past our view of Africa is one of poverty stricken children, countless homeless people, and the rising power of the drug cartels. This has not always been the case as of more recent times since the democratically elected president Nelson Mandela. From the time he left office in 1999 rumors have been circulating through the "dark continent' of  another revolution, for here in many areas racism is a very large problem for people living here today. These counties living here today are about one hundred years behind the United States, I know we should not compare third world countries to first world countries, I simply aim to put their environment into perspective to Americans who have never looked into this topic. Segregation has been brained by the government, but it is still seen everywhere. South Africa calls itself the "rainbow'' country and this is a literal name for the people of different colors do not mix, just as the colors in the rainbow. Today we truly must be thankful that we live in such a great country as we do, where every man and woman is equal in the eyes of our creator and the government.
Framed by the Tibetan flag, the Dalai Lama speaks to members of the Tibetan Community in New York.

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

The question is presented who is the Dalai Lama? First and foremost we must say that he is the leader of the leader essentially of Tibetan Buddhism. As with every "faith" we shall meet some conflict with said faith. Here we get into a strange form of religion / states of mind, for the Buddhists do not believe in a god, which is to say that they do not really care one way or the other. The main focus of a Buddhists has always been to achieve Nirvana.
