The documentary Inside Jobs was directed by a man named Charles Ferguson and narrated by Matt Damon. This documentary shows the corruption that went on with the banks throughout a couple years. It shows how the government hired these men as government officials. It is sickening to watch this video because of all of the greed. They already made a lot of money but that wasn't enough. The inside corruption that went on could've been prevented if someone looked into it earlier. It was amazing to know that the 2008 crash was man made.
Something I remember specifically from the movie was, "For the first time in history, average Americans have less education and are less prosperous than their parents'". It's a sad truth that has happened due to the crash. Growing up kids always want better than their parents but in our time to do better we need to fork out thousands of dollars for education to even get a mediocre job. While researching i noticed that the movie explained in detail more than I could look up, faster. It was so informative and overwhelming. The crash was about greedy people becoming even more greedy.

  1. Greed gets no one anywhere. I hate the word money sometimes. It just changes a normal person into this greedy person who does not care about anyone or anything. Thanks for posting. very well written.

    1. Thank you for your comment. I agree with you about hating the word money sometimes. I do too. It is a big game of who or what can get you more of it. Happiness comes from people, experience, religion, and attitude and not by money.

  2. The quote you used stood out to me as well. Everyone in our generation wants to be successful but in order to get a great job and make good money we have to spend thousands of dollars and go into debt. A lot of people don't even think its worth it because there's a chance that when we graduate we wont even be able to find a job, and so our generation is becoming less and less educated.

    1. EXACTLY. It's so sad that a minimum wage job is more appealing than education due to lack of funds.

  3. You're completely right, people will do the craziest things if money is involved. There was so much information in the video that it was completely overwhelming and it was a little hard to understand in the beggging. Your post is exactly how i felt about the movie.

  4. I think you used the appropriate word when you call it "sickening." I'm remembering Henry Paulson and what he did to basically rob the investors of Goldman Sachs, then went to become the U.S. Secretary of Treasury. It is unbelievable that people can be so greedy. I found it interesting that neither political party walked away without blood on their hands. Sad.

  5. It is sad to think that, compared to the population that is involved with our economy as a whole, only a few people made our economy crash. It worries me to think about how hard it is going to be to get a job, especially with a college degree.

  6. I really liked the quote you gave, it just sums up how our generation isn't as educated as it should be and that is going to effect the future of our country and thats all because some greedy people on wall street wanted to make more money for themselves.

  7. I like your post because you touched on the facts that these men were greedy beyond "regulation," and the fact that the financial crisis of 2008 was staged by these bankers. I also liked that you touched base on the fact that, as parents, we all want better for our children than we had, which is all very touching and enlightening. I do have to disagree with your statement about the government hiring these men, when it was the other way around. Without the bankers having the backing of Congress to overturn the old laws that were put into place to prevent what happened, which in turn promoted the deregulation of the current banking systems, the crisis would not have happened... (?) I do, however, think that may be what you were trying to say. Good post though, cheers!
